A comedy about four couples who head to a tropical resort for a vacation. While one of them is there to work on their marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort's therapy is not optional.

"Mission: Impossible IV," which once seemed truly impossible, is taking shape at Paramount.

Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have agreed to co-produce the sequel, which is aimed at a 2011 release.

The return of Cruise to Par itself is surprising in view of the circumstances surrounding his departure in August 2006. Apparently irked by the heft of Cruise's deal, among other issues, Viacom chief Sumner Redstone abruptly terminated the 14-year relationship between the star and the studio. Cruise's then-CAA agent, Rick Nicita, termed Redstone's decision "shockingly offensive and graceless."

The rift led to Cruise becoming the chief of United Artists and taking a more active role in production decisions. Redstone, meanwhile, has sought to heal the relationship. At a recent appearance, he described the star as "a great actor and a good friend."

The "Mission" installment would augment Paramount's formidable array of sequels, which will include "Star Trek 2" and a third "Transformers."

Work on "Mission: Impossible IV" would inevitably be delayed by the busy schedules of the participants.

Abrams will be responsible for guiding the "Star Trek" sequel, while Cruise recently committed to an untitled pic (formerly called "Wichita") for 20th Century Fox that will be directed by James Mangold and co-star Cameron Diaz.

Cruise and Denzel Washington are also awaiting a rewrite on the David Cronenberg-directed "The Matarese Circle," the MGM thriller based on the Robert Ludlum novel.

The first preview for this film looked cool. This one looks freakin' awesome! It's like he took Independence Day and kicked it up about ten notches. I also love the fact that the preview says "the end is only the beginning." This gives me hope that there will actually be a story after all the incredible destruction.    

An academic researcher leads a group of people in a fight to counteract the apocalyptic events that were predicted by the ancient Mayan calendar. Cast includes: John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

2012 is directed and co-written by epic German filmmaker Roland Emmerich, of films like Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, and 10,000 B.C. previosuly. It was also co-written by Harald Kloser, of The Thirteenth Floor, The Day After Tomorrow, Alien vs Predator, and 10,000 B.C. as well. Sony Pictures is bringing 2012 to theaters everywhere on November 13th this year!

Exclusive: Indy 5 Is A Go! Frank Marshall spills the beans

The hat is officially out of the bag. On Monday Shia Labeouf let slip that a follow up to Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was on the cards and now Frank Marshall has pretty much confirmed it, suggesting that Indy V could be approaching the pencil-chewing script development stage. Although he didn't specify timelines, Marshall told Empire that ideas would be worked on with a view to green-lighting production sooner rather than later. "It's really about the script," says the veteran Indy producer. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!" But are Mssrs. Spielberg, Ford and Lucas equally sold on a fifth outing for the whip-cracking archeologist? "Yeah. We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We're not getting any younger." With Ford fast approaching his 67th birthday, time is definitely of the essence. Up may have raised the bar for the ageing adventurers, but Indy showed signs of creakiness in The Crystal Skull and it's safe to rule out too many rolling boulder chases or collapsing rope bridges from a further sequel. Hopefully the same goes for the gopher. One caveat to all this is the lack of a concrete idea. As Marshall told us: "Until there's a script, nothing's definite. I haven't heard the idea."

Despite some obvious flaws, I still enjoyed the last movie. I'm looking forward to seeing Indy in action again. What do you think?

COED’s Take: A kind of safe-sex PSA wrapped in the body of a sci-fi thriller, “Black Hole” is based on a graphic novel by Charles Burns (not a remake of the 1979 film) about a sexually transmitted disease that’s rapidly spreading among teenagers. The story follows two such teens, Keith and Chris, as they get infected with the ‘the bug,’ which causes them and the story to devolve into a dreamy, hallucinogenic wasteland – a perfect fit for director David Fincher (Se7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Sounds pretty awesome

I'm a huge David Fincher fan (even if I did think Ben Buttons failed to live up to expectations). But I haven't heard anything about this movie. Sounds strange and very Fincher...
